Delta’s continued support of Rady Children’s
Delta Air Lines, a proud partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1997 recently supported Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego with a grant of $50,000 for the second year in a row to fund important endeavors.
The first $25,000 will support the Delta Air Lines Surgical Services Child Life Fund, which expanded the hours of Child Life Specialists within the Surgical Services department at Rady Children’s last year and will continue to fund the increased support in 2018-2019. In the past year, Delta’s support of this program has ensured that more children receive pre-operative tours and education, as well as psychological preparation for surgery, helping to make the often scary process of surgery a little less intimidating for our young patients.
Regarding the increased support, one patient family shared, “Taylor was amazing, and an excellent addition to the staff. Having her as a “patient advocate” made the overall experience more seamless, and she did a great job of making my son feel more comfortable. Great job Rady Children’s on adding this much needed role! Going the extra mile makes a huge difference in the overall experience! P.S. Our other son had the same surgery 4 years ago, and we wish you had a Child Life Specialist then too! Good job adding it finally.”
Additionally, Delta supported the 2018 Rady Children’s Ice Rink at Liberty Station. The Ice Rink is an outdoor skating arena open to the public during the holiday season. All sponsorship dollars and donations from the rink support patient care and supportive programs at Rady Children’s Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, the largest pediatric cancer center in the region.
